20 technical experts ready for board positions by 2030

I have worked with hundreds of technical experts all over Europe and for the most part they just want to get their head down and get the job done, fix the problem, submit their task.

Yet when get into a conversation with them, it is painstakingly obvious that they have the big picture and understand how things fit together. Their knowledge is exemplary, their ability to explain complex things is impressive and their resourcefullness admirable.

There's a lot of high potential engineers and other technical experts flying under the radar, seen as the reliable one, happy to plod along. To me that seems like a massive waste of talent and in manufacturing for instance they are obsessed with avoiding waste, except it seems when it comes to the people in the know. A waste of talent is also like leaving money on the table - you're also inviting a lack of engagement and retention to rear it's ugly head.

For years the focus has been on transactional recruitment, one person leaves, another is hired, the fastest to hire gets the prize and so the 30% failure rate of new hires is inevitable. This is largely due to the conventional approach to recruitment that is stubbornly being clinged on to despite the waste of time, money and energy, anything between €150,000-300,000.  The big companies, the successful ones are switching to retention.

Recruiting internally makes business sense and yet the acute lack of strong leaders makes this difficult to implement. Many leaders are promoted into their role without real preparation or training and so it is natural for succession planning to be incremental, something tedious to be dealt with later (let's face it, that's never) and yet that leadership pipeline is the lifeline for ongoing productivity and innovation.

So to make succession easier for technical companies, I'm taking over this task, the training, the advice regarding selection and the knowledge management that eliminates the risk when key players disappear.

🔷 Minimise risk
🔷 Maximise productivity and innovation.

Makes sense, if so let's jump on a call and I can explain more about the English Speaking Experts approach to getting 30 technical leaders into board positions by 2030. Perhaps you will be one of the 30 or perhaps you can help your company to save a lot of money.

Either way let's talk.
