From Supporting the Underdog to Empowering Leaders
Hi there, I'm Corinne Wilhelm.
I grew up on the South West coast of England in a family business and studied Business & Marketing before leading international teams in London. That's where I noticed something frustrating: some of my most brilliant team members—usually non-native speakers—weren't getting the recognition they deserved.
I tend to support the underdog, and I'll always fight for my team. What I discovered was that it usually came down to accent bias, communication and intercultural awareness, not capability.
Why I Created English Speaking Experts
As a multilingual Brit, I became fascinated with supporting these 'undiscovered experts'. When I helped them speak up in a way that made a better impression, they started to gain the recognition, pay increases and promotions they'd long deserved. That felt rewarding and when I moved to Germany I decided that this was somehow my calling.
With 30 years of working in complex male-dominated industries, starting in finance, then tech and engineering across Europe, I've seen the unique challenges women face climbing the leadership ladder. Women are often disregarded for leadership roles because they're too bossy, too inexperienced, too loud, too shy, too ????
I've seen amazing, talented introverts that are unassuming and content by nature, take advantage of the confidence and skills that we have worked in coaching for instance, to finally show up as the leader. The leader that listens (refreshing), the leader that delegates (appealing) and the leader that can get their teams to move heaven and earth (effective) to reach a goal together. These leaders are not walk overs, not lacking ambition, not too indecisive, they were just invisible to the decision makers with conventional views of what leadership looks like. It's as if they are wearing blinkers, just scanning for mirror images of themselves.
That's why I created the English Speaking Experts community—because confident, clear communication changes everything - from careers to relationships.
Beyond Language: Leadership That Gets You Noticed
Many women I coach are perfectionists, struggling with imposter syndrome and of course the very real balancing act of being a mother and as we get more experience, often a carer too. With confidence, we delve into developing their communication and thought leadership skills that they need to advance alongside those vital responsibilities. We also talk a lot about mental health, sharing the load, especially at home and taking care of ourselves because no career success is worth personal sacrifice.
Because here's the truth: success isn't just about what you know—it's about who knows you. When organizations are looking for board members, being visible and known for your expertise is essential. Being a board member can actually mean more freedom, happy to explain why. Just jump on a virtual tea break with me and I can explain...
Only 20% of the technical experts that I am working with come to me with an eye on a board position but I see potential pretty quickly because every time I work with a company, they get the full service - consultancy, coaching, training and a community. Anything less than that would set you up for failure and I have not been in business for almost 30 years because I wanted to make a quick buck. When I work with you I go all in on fixing your leadership pipeline because we need technical leaders at the top. We need a diverse range of leaders, including female engineers to bring a different perspective to the table if we are to keep up with the phenomenal rate of technical advancement.
A Four-Pillar Approach Built on Deep Understanding
My Female Leadership Programme combines consultancy, training, coaching and consultancy to ensure learning is inspiring, sustainable, and clearly noticeable in your daily leadership impact.
In isolation, training is futile! A complete waste of time and money.
So invest in the 360 degree approach that gets you out of the weeds and into the ocean of international innovation and excellence.
Global Perspective, Personal Touch
I pivot regularly between Cambridge, Berlin, and Salzburg, bringing a truly international perspective. My handbag always includes my Kindle, pretty pens and notebooks, and earphones for the latest podcasts.
I was one of the first certified online trainers back in the 90s; my Erasmus year in Finland gave me early exposure to international cultures. Fun fact: I negotiated my first job offer after university for a higher salary—which delayed my move to Germany by six years. And if you're wondering about plants, don't give me any—they're just not safe with me!
I coach comfortably in both my native English and professional Deutsch, blending cross-cultural sensitivity with practical strategies. Having both nationalities I am free to work where I want to for as long as I want to which is why I love working with companies that have teams in both Europe and the UK.
